Thanks Zach. At the very least, I hope it’s a watchable game.

Winnipeg won at St. Louis last night so they are on a back-to-back while the Hawks are well rested. With back up goalie Rittich probably in net for the Jets, Hawks may surprise and win this one.

Bedard would look fantastic between Goudreau and Laine next year. Wonder if Columbus wished they would of left Sillinger in jr's last year, he sure is having a sophomore slump this year

I think Ditka is the backup backup goalie tonight - He should pitch a shut out

Bedard would be withbtwomother guys that want the puck to shoot.

Nice on the power play, but no so sure on the rush.

Bedard in his international showing at U-18 had Fantilli as a wing and they co-existed well because as Beard said, "I just let him carry the zone entires and waited to see where the chances to have the puck would be.

They later broke the pair up b/c they weren't scoring and separated gave Canada a more diverse attack.

The think about Bedard is he is going to score on anyone.

He can walk in play the off hand wing with anybody handling the centre duties.

Fantilli is probably after leaving college starting as a centre, because he is strong there and better a centre than a winger-he likes the puck.

Connor will learn centre if that is where he looks most comfortable with to quick wings that take care of much of the chase and punch with him.
...and Connor is so smart at getting open and needs little time to explode it accurately of his stick.

It is a real good chance he is.

Along with Eduard Sale Will Smith and a boatload of really nice Canadiens...

Or not.

26 games played, essentially 1/3 of the season already. Can't believe that. Hawks are on pace for about 56 points for the season. They might not even get that many after some players are traded later in the year. In retrospect, last year MON and ARI finished at the bottom with 55 and 57 points respectively.

ANA is really bad though. Hawks may finish 2nd worst ahead of them. I'd be happy with the 2nd OA. Be a fan of Fantilli.

I guess the style of play is extremely difficult to keep up in the NHL. This team works hard but seems to have lost the energy and step they had in the 1st 10 games. This is good though need the best pick they possibly can get.

Unfortunately what i thought was a problem before the season started is actually occurring now, they just can't score

Last year they scored 219 goals, something like 5th least in the league. And that was with Cat, Strome, Hagel, Kubalik and Dach. Over a 100 by them. In addition Kane on pace this season for maybe 13 goals, half of what he scored last year. He'll probably turn it on sooner or later. Toews has cooled off after a good start. No way AA, Tomi, Raddysh and all the new 3rd and 4th liners come close to a hundred goals. Team could finish the year with about 180 goals. But it was built this way.

I wouldn´t mind this at all. Michkov is going to break records in VHL as a draft eligible player. It is not common that player in his age get to play in that league and he is in a 26 goal pace there. If he was playing in CHL he would be putting same kind of numbers that Bedard is. He should be consensus number 2 at least in this coming draft based on his talent but the Russian factor and that contract status is not making him a favor here. He reminds me of Kirill Kaprizov.

Devils have assets to make significant deadline splash for playoff push

By the way, if you’re Kane and your no-move clause allows you to choose your landing spot, is there a better option going than playing on Hughes’ right side?

Yeah.
But I always have felt uncomfortable playing or cheering for a team called "Devils." May sound trivial or silly to you. Any other name is better.

This could happen if...

1. Kane becomes frustrated enough to leave the team and waives his NMC.

2. Kane has to name NJ as one of his preferred destinations.

3. KD has to work out a deal with NJ. As the article noted with Tarasenko probably on the market as the Blues sink in the standings the Devils will have RW options other than Kane.

This is the profile I put up on him on my lines.com Mock in September.

Big bodied Swedish Centre-wing who handles the puck well, display excellent vision, plays a two way game and shows competitiveness in his battles for pucks. He is a big horse who is a force. He played as a regular with Orebro HK in the SHL last season, and has faired very well, creating offense and is able to beat opposing defenders one on one. So far has played exclusively on the wing in the Swedish pro league. He is a difficult to stop freight train barreling through the neutral zone and picks up steam on his entry and will cut hard to the middle, attacking the net. Has good hands, feet and stick and there is room on his frame for more size and strength. Unselfish playmaker who also can score impressive goals. Plays in all situations and the top power play and penalty kill units. Drifts to open areas in the attack zone, and if it draws defenders, he hits the teammate who's gained that open space. A team leader with excellent drive and calm in his possessions. In the August Four Nations U-20 Tourney, he had six points and was a plus 4. Captained the Swedish U-18 club. Currently the third line centre on Örebro HK, he sees time on the power play and has 11 points in his first 14 SHL games. Looks to be the first Swedish player to get his name called in 2023, and future NHL big centre.

The upright short strides don't bother me a bit; the guy has such strong pins and gets going and is simply bringing a huge body into the scoring areas fearless of the closeness of pursuers, and plenty of jump for a "skating issue."
Sure his stop / starts will have to improve to allow improvement as a defensive threat, but this isn't uncommon with big kids and grow into their size and co-ordinate and improve their legs and feet.

I have moved him for now into my slot three but I am undecided if he plays centre in the NHL (a good chance) but you just cannot dismiss how well he is a quick attacker.

My questions as to who is finally in the third spot by the draft have a lot to do with where the development and production of (a three forward position player)centre Will Smith,
How true centre Calum Ritchie looks before the CHL playoffs, if
true centre Dalibor Dvorsky looks like a sure thing first liner,
or how much value NHL teams scouting staffs see the "tweeter" centres might have better production and success w/o the centre duties, eg.
"RW" Brayden Yager (18 goals 37 points 30 games)
"LW" Zach Benson (18 goals 39 points 43 games with a talented Winnipeg club.)
And nobody will criticize a team if the see fit to take Eduard Sale, a LHRW, who has definite offensive instincts that do look elite despite his production so far.
I have to include 6' 1" 190lb. LHRWColby Barlow (20 goals, 35 points in 25 games) as a wait and see where he and Owen Sound are before the CHL playoffs begin.
Of course, I can go on,
Interestingly 6' 3" 185lb. Matthew Wood three position forward is already at the University of Connecticut as a 17 yr. old and I see a few draftniks talking about his feet and his wide turns...but again, you let these kids grow into their bodies and the legs and feet and skating get co-ordinated.

Just starting on 2025 and it is far to early for you to hold to my lost on 2024 either...

If a team wants a true centre they need to have that second overall selection, because Fantilli will be a top two centre, and maybe more.

In 2021 with the 5th pick Columbus takes Kent Johnson.

He goes to Michigan for a year 2021-22 and then slides into the BlueJacket line up in 2022

He is a smooth skating attack playyer, and a another guy whose final position (either LW or Centre) will be determined later.

This was a kid who every shift made the game look easy, effortless a COLE SILLINGER and already has agility, quickness, and hands.

Did he waltz in and elevate to top line status? No.

He does have 6 goals and 13 points.

My point is although some like Toews score 24 goals and 54 points in his first season, but that is usually an exception not the rule.

And since I am talking Columbus, third line he is playing with includes centre Cole Sillinger, (12th overall) and just called up 22 yr old Russian sniper Kirill Marchenko, chosen 49th overall, who in this first year, had 8 goals and 219 points in 16 games in the AHL.

Are they going to take qualitative jumps as a 3rd line against NHERs?

Well, so far NO!
The point is
These kids need time, and the Hawk PR better start figuring out what to say and what to temper saying after this upcoming 2023 rebuild draft

Imo, the guy should have never been a late first rounder, b/c he has little interest in anything but scoring. He was awarded 22 hits and 16 blocks and 19 shots, but hasn't played for 7 games.

And yes, ANY team should grab him on waivers as it doesn't hurt.

The hawks get second dibs after Arizona.

You get him at 1,450,000 this year and next (until the end of 2024.)

It's a free chance to see if a former 1st round pick that's only 23 meshes with the current roster. There's absolutely no downside to taking a look.
